Position INCARE VOLUNTEER (Changi Prison)
Description of duties
  • To befriend and reach out to the male inmates at Changi Prison for Chapel Services along with the Wesley Prison Ministry fellow volunteers.
  • At the Saturday Chapel Service, we worship, share God’s Word, pray with the brothers and get to know them and their struggles as we befriend them.
Requirements

Where : At Changi Prison
When : Changi Prison – Saturday afternoon or Sunday
How Often : Up to twice a month (Sat) / Once a month (Sun)
For Whom : Wesley Methodist Church member | Mature Christian |Served in other ministry previously |Able to observe guidelines.

Commitment

Minimum 1 year requirement

Position INCARE VOLUNTEER (Halfway House)
Description of duties
  • To reach out and befriend male inmates who are serving their last 12 months term in a Halfway House.
  • To share the Word and life applications through Bible Study sessions at the halfway house.
Requirements

Where : Halfway House
When : Weeknights
How Often : Once a week
For Whom : Wesley Methodist Church member | Mature Christian |Served in other ministry previously |Able to observe guidelines.

Position AFTERCARE VOLUNTEER
Description of duties
  • To befriend and be present for the released persons as they begin to reintegrate back to family life, society, work, church and the community.
  • To build relationship with beneficiaries by giving your time to support, prayers, provide a listening ear, communicate with and encourage the beneficiary, usually
    through regular face-to-face meetings, phone calls and messaging.
  • To extend a helping hand in linking beneficiaries to social service agencies assistance and/or visits.
  • To be their new circle of Christian friends who will encourage them in their journey of Christian faith. You will serve alongside other volunteer(s) to support released person.
Requirements When : As support is needed
How Often : At least once a week
For Whom : Wesley Methodist Church member | Mature Christian |Served in other ministry previously |Able to observe guidelines.

Position FAMILYCARE VOLUNTEER
Description of duties
  • To befriend and be present for the family of incarcerated person(s) (“beneficiaries”) as they cope with financial, social, emotional and spiritual challenges while their loved ones are in prison.
  • To build relationship with beneficiaries by giving your time to support, prayers, provide a listening ear, communicate with and encourage the beneficiary, usually through regular face-to-face meetings, phone calls and messaging.
  • To build relationship with beneficiaries by giving your time to support, provide a listening ear, communicate with and encourage the beneficiaries, usually through face-to-face meetings, phone calls and messaging.
  • To extend a helping hand in linking families to social service agencies assistance, accompany them for prison visits or doctor’s visits as needed/ appropriate.
  • Volunteers will serve in pairs.
Requirements Where : Home of the inmate’s family
How Often : At least once a month
For Whom : Wesley Methodist Church member | Mature Christian |Served in other ministry previously |Able to observe guidelines.
Commitment Minimum 1 year requirement
