Wesley Filipino Fellowship:
Home Away From Home

Despite many years of working away from her home in the Philippines, Minda Gonzales, now feels that she also has a second home in Singapore in the company of fellow church members and countrymen who attend services at Wesley Methodist Church.

Minda, who works as a domestic helper, said: “I am here as a contract worker and I miss my family back home. It’s a good thing that the Filipino Fellowship in Wesley makes me feel like I belong to another family."

"I like the help that is given to each other in times of need and I also like the dedication of the people serving in the fellowship,” said Minda, who was encouraged by a friend to join Wesley back in 1995.

Like Minda, more than 70 other worshippers at Wesley regularly attend the Filipino Fellowship. Most are domestic helpers while some are professionals as well.

Every Sunday, there is a Filipino Bible study from 9.30am at Wesley Plaza Hall Stage (located at 5 Fort Canning Road) followed by the Filipino Worship Service from 11.30am to 1.00pm at Bible House, Basement 2 (located at 7 Armenian Street). Lunch fellowship, served with authentic Filipino food, is usually around 1.30pm and other activities like guitar lessons, Bible studies and talks are held from 2pm, also at Bible House, Basement 2.

They also have outreach programmes, get-togethers and annual events like Christmas parties.
With this fellowship, it is certain that members will be brought closer to God and to one another.
