The Bible and Homosexuality
Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2019
Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Venue: Wesley Hall
Closing Date: 17 Feb (or when we reach the max seating capacity)
Speaker: Dr Tan Kim Huat
The topic of homosexuality has been making the news in our world today. Activists, including many who identify themselves as Christians or Catholics, have been pressing for the homosexual lifestyle to be accepted into the mainstream of life in society.
Against this backdrop, this talk seeks to present a Christian perspective on the topic. This is done principally by probing the evidence provided by the Bible because the Church will inevitably turn to it for guidance. Pertinent texts that are often cited and debated will be examined. In the process, it is hoped that biblical wisdom on how the Church should wrestle with the issue can also be garnered.
Dr Tan Kim Huat is the Chen Su Lan Professor of New Testament and also the Academic Dean at Trinity Theological College. In addition to his many scholarly interests, the chief of these being the subject of the emergence of Christianity within a Jewish matrix, he is concerned with the struggles and issues faced by ordinary churchgoers.
Please note that this talk is open to worshippers of Wesley Methodist Church only.
Registration is compulsory and we discourage walk-ins.
Please register at www.wesleymc.org/Discipleship or at the Info Counter before 17 Feb.
