Beliefs, Mission, Vision

We, at Wesley Methodist Church,
seek to glorify God in Jesus Christ
by loving Him,
by loving one another and
by loving our neighbours as ourselves.

Deuteronomy 6:5, Luke 10:27, John 13:34

The Apostles' Creed (Traditional Version)

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen.

God

To believe in God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is to put our whole trust in Him for this life and forever.
He creates all things and sustains and loves all that He has made.
He is the Eternal Ruler of the universe and has all power to fulfill His purpose.

Holy Spirit

He is the Giver of Life,

who continues and fulfils the work of Christ in the life of the Church and of the believer.
He abides in us providing victory for Christian living, development of Christian fruit and revelation of God's will through His Word.

Jesus

He fulfilled God's promise made to the world that a king would come to reign in righteousness and peace. In His nature and being,
He is eternally one with God the Father.
He came to save us from sin,
and to bring us into a life of free obedience to God.

Church

The Church is the whole company of those who trust in Christ as Lord and Saviour and are united in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
The Church has been set apart to do God's work and to share the whole Gospel to all people - that we are saved by God's grace through our faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins.
