Missions Team to Myanmar

Dala & Dagon
Team size: 8

Our Missions teams have been ministering to the local communities in the outskirts of Yangon through befriending and Christmas outreach. We will be reaching out to the children, youth and adults with songs, crafts, testimonies and the sharing of God’s word.

We welcome Wesleyans who:

  • Are 18 years old and above
  • Have a heart to serve the Lord
  • Are comfortable in reaching out to children (songs/crafts), youth (simple bible teaching) and adults (10 mins sharing of personal testimony)

Kachin, Myanmar
Team size: 8

The first Wesley missions team to this state in Myanmar several years ago learnt about the realities of drug addiction and the devastation it wrecked. The team ministered to mothers who had lost sons to drugs; to maintain their addiction, many of these boys stole from their parents, breaking many hearts. The local church tried to bring their youths back to church through prayer, music, and teaching.

Teams will conduct a women’s seminar with teaching and ministry as well as run a children’s Bible camp, focusing on reaching the next generation before they fall prey to drug addiction.

The team needs Wesleyans who have prior experience with children’s ministry and intercession. Trippers should be in good physical health and be able to cope with inconvenient toilet facilities. Above all, we welcome Wesleyans with a heart to bring Jesus to the nations and a desire to serve with humility.

Requirements:

  • The trips listed above are open only to members and those who worship at Wesley Methodist Church.
  • Children need to be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent (subject to approval based on considerations in the field).
  • You are required to attend Missions Team Prep Course, an introductory course to prepare participants for missions trips. Click here for more information.

Missions Team to Thailand

Nong Bua Lam Phu (NBLP)

Serving alongside the pastors from NBLP Methodist Church, teams will be supporting their ministry in outreach to adults and programmes for youth and children. Two teams in Mar & Oct will focus on conducting youth camps whilst teams in Jun & Dec will carry out Teach-to-Reach programmes in schools and outreach ministry to the elderly community nearby. Khek Noi

Teams will be visiting the village communities where children from under-privileged families are particularly at risk. 40% of rural children grow up in dysfunctional families and 11% of these children would have fallen prey to drugs before the age of 16. Early intervention is key in helping them break out of this vicious cycle of poverty and brokenness. The team will be bringing children from under-privileged families out for an overnight camp. The objective is to build relationships and introduce them to a loving God who has not forgotten about them.

Phrao

Phrao is a rural town 96km from Chiang Mai. Wesley Methodist Church has been partnering with Little Candles Methodist Church in Phrao to reach out to the communities through love, care and the gospel of Christ. Last year we have explored new preaching points in Longkord and Maepang in the outskirts of Phrao where many poor and needy families reside. The team will be conducting healthcare talks, children programmes and visiting hill tribe villages in remote places to bring God’s blessings to them.

We also need medical professionals (eg. physiotherapists) to help develop the partnerships with local medical institutions for the local church to follow up with families in need of medical care and treatment.

Requirements:

  • The trips listed above are open only to members and those who worship at Wesley Methodist Church.
  • Children need to be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent (subject to approval based on considerations in the field).

We are looking for teachers, doctors and anyone who has experience working in the medical field, with children and youth in particular. If you have a heart to pray for missions and serve the Lord, you are most welcome to join this missions team!
