It will be held from 11 - 13 September 2025, at Village Hotel Changi, 1 Netheravon Road, Singapore 508502

Participants will have to attend a mandatory retreat briefing on 23 August 2025, (afternoon) at Wesley Methodist Church.

The retreat is an opportunity for Wesleyans from all walks of life to come together to examine, reflect and address vital issues in their lives. Come and be centred on Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. 

The retreat is designed on the framework of the five faith environments of CORDS in our Wesley Discipleship Model (WDM). 

CORDS is the acronym for Significant Circumstances, Scriptural Obedience, Spiritual Relationships, Spiritual Disciplines and Sacrificial Service.

At the retreat, we will hear examples of how Christ has impacted our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ within these faith environments.

The retreat will be an excellent time for us to slow down, reflect on, relook at and reconsider our life priorities. It will be an uncluttered time to relax, reconnect with the Lord and our spiritual community, and refresh our discipleship journey with and in God.

There will be plenary sessions for everyone and men’s and women’s gender-specific discussion group sessions.

You will have time to pray, relax and reflect.

You will listen to and share life stories in a safe space.

You will have time for solitude; there will be guided exercises on spiritual disciplines such as Lectio Divina and Examen.

We will all maintain the confidentiality of what is shared at the retreat.

Most of all, we will enjoy one another’s fellowship and learn how Christ has impacted our lives.

SWR is led by our Pastors and supported by a group of lay volunteers who have attended the previous retreat.

Anyone from Wesley Methodist Church, 19 years or older (by year of birth), is warmly welcomed and will receive unconditional acceptance.

Everyone is warmly welcomed to join the retreat. No matter where you are spiritually, we know God will meet you where you are, and He will touch you at this retreat.

Although there is time for prayer, reflection and solitude, this is not a silent retreat.

No. This retreat focuses explicitly on our spiritual discipleship journey. However, there will still be warm fellowship, great conversations around the table and delicious food!

At the SWR, we want to encourage the participants to spend unhurried time with God and one another throughout the day. Staying in minimises external distractions and allows for focused attention

Yes, we will allocate everyone a discussion group.

They will be gender-specific.

There will be about six to eight retreatants in a group.

You may hang out with your friends who are not in your discussion groups at some of the meal times or sit with them during worship and plenary session times. 

You can still sign up even if you do not know anyone at the retreat. You have the opportunity to make new friends in your discussion groups, during the plenary sessions, or at meal times. The retreat may bring forth the beginning of a long-lasting spiritual friendship!

Just sign up, and we will do our best to look for a roommate for you.

Please share as much or as little as you like. Group discussions and responses follow each plenary session, and retreatants are encouraged to share and participate meaningfully. Most of the time, in-depth conversations take place in your discussion groups. 

Your participation is key to the discussion groups. But please share only at your comfort level.

Our discipleship growth is an ongoing journey, and we trust the Holy Spirit will help you to continue your own spiritual renewal and inspire you even after the retreat.

There are no mandatory follow-up activities after the retreat. However, you may wish to continue journeying with the same group or with your spiritual friends you have connected with at the retreat. Together you can continue to share your journeys and pray for one another after the retreat.
