From our Pastor-in-Charge...

Dear Friends and Members of the Wesley Family,

Holy Communion, also called the Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper, is one of the two important Sacraments (Baptism is the other one) in our Methodist tradition as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ. I am sure many of you are concerned over whether we are still observing the Sacrament of Holy Communion during this COVID-19 pandemic.

I am attaching a letter from our Bishop and three Presidents explaining their decision to suspend Holy Communion in all our Methodist Churches till the end of April 2020. As such, being part of the Methodist family, we will submit to the advisory given by our Bishop and Presidents.

As you read the letter, I wish for you to bear in mind the wise words of Dr Lai Pak-Wah and Dr Tan Seng-Kong from the Biblical Graduate School of Theology: “…we need to remember the centrality of the Gospel: that we are justified by faith in Christ, and everything that we do henceforth, including participation in the Eucharist, is out of our faithfulness to Christ. We are not saved by the Eucharist, let alone its mechanics, or the lack of it…”

Thank you,

Pastor Stanley Chua
